From phone conversations between Republican Senator Ted Stevens of Alaskand Bill Allen, the CEO of Veco Corporation, an oil-services company. The calls, recorded by the FBI in cooperation with Allen, were introduced as evidence in Stevns’ trail for failing to disclose an estimated $250,000 in gifts from Allen and his company. Stevens was found guilty of all charges in October, and conceded his re-election to the Senate yesterday, in his lost to Democratic Anchorage Major Mark Begich.
